The city of Waterville was incorporated in 1889
and currently is home to about 1200 people.
Waterville is the county seat for Douglas County.
The Douglas County Museum is located in Pioneer Park, across from the hotel. In addition to the museum guests often enjoy a walk around town to admire the many craftsman and bungalow style homes and to linger along Waterville’s historic main street. The Douglas County fairgrounds and airport are on the northeast side of town and both the Catholic and Unitarian cemetery are on the southeast corner. Scattered throughout town are a number of churches, while the government offices of courthouse, city hall, post office and city pool are clustered in the center of town.

Waterville’s half dozen restaurants offer a variety of foods up until 8pm during the week and 9pm on Friday and Saturday.
During the winter season, there may be limited hours at some restaurants.
